Holland Shopping Centre carries an extensive line of Dutch cookies. Speculaas and stroopwafels are two of the more popular Dutch cookies. Speculaas are gingerbread cookies with a windmill design. Stroopwafels, wafer cookies with a creamy syrup middle, are a delicious treat loved by the Dutch and non-Dutch alike. We carry many other popular Dutch cookies, including: Verkade café noir, frou frou, and Sultana (fruit-filled) biscuits; rondos and kanos (almond paste-filled cookies), various roomboter (butter) cookies, bokkepootjes (cream-filled, chocolate coated biscuits), mergpijpjes (marzipan & chocolate cookies), coconut cookies and tompoozers (iced, vanilla cream-filled cookies). Many Dutch North Americans still enjoy their koeken and beschuit (cakes and rusks). We sell roggebrood (pumpernickel), as well as onbijtkoek (breakfast cake). Also available are gember (ginger) and Groningen (dried fruit) koeken, and Friesen kruid (spice) koek. Beschuit, or rusks, are toasted biscuits, available from Bolletje in white or whole-wheat. We also have a variety of Kroes and Bolletje cheese biscuits and crackers, as well as Albert Hein cocktailnootjes and Duyvis borrelnootjes (flavoured peanuts). We carry an extensive line of products for sandwiches. Chocolade hagelslag - chocolate sprinkles - are a delicious treat on a sandwich. In addition to chocolate hail, De Ruiter also makes chocolate flakes, fruit hail, and anise (licorice-flavoured) hail. We also carry a selection of appelstroop (apple spread) and suikerstroop (syrup), as well as Dutch peanut butter, jams, and chocolate spreads.
