Ingredients:

1 Package Honig Pea Soup
1 ½ L (6 3/8 cups) Cold Water
1 Dutch smoked sausage in pieces
1 pound chopped soup vegetables (i.e. leek, carrot, celery root, celery)

Directions:

  1. Put the water in a soup pan and mix in the soup package. Stir well.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. Once it boils, add the vegetables and cut up smoked sausage.
  4. Turn down temperature and let simmer for a while for about 15 minutes.

Tips:

Serving suggestion:  Serve with rye bread and smoked bacon.

Add a cubed pork steak or a pork chop to the soup. Cook 1-2 hours or till meat is tender before adding vegetables and finishing the soup.   Remove bones.
