Ingredients:

1 ½ kg (3 1/2 lb) Potatoes
600gr (1 1/3 lb) Sauerkraut (jar) or Sauerkraut (bag)

100 or 200 mL (3/8 or 7/8 cup) Milk
30 – 40gr (1 1/8 – 1 3/8 oz) Butter or Margarine
1 Package of Silvo Spice mix for Sauerkraut

Directions:

  1. Peel the potatoes, cut and wash them.

  2. Put some water in a pan and add the potatoes and Sauerkraut.

  3. With the lid on, cook on high and bring to a boil.

  4. Turn on low and let cook for 20 – 25 minutes.

  5. Meanwhile heat the milk.

  6. Drain of the excess water from the potatoes.

  7. Add the milk, butter and package of spices to the potatoes.

  8. Mash all together.                  

  9. Serve hot.

Tips:

Do not add salt and pepper because it is already in the spice mix.

Serve with 'speklapjes' (thick bacon slices, seasoned with speklapjes mix, fried till crisp), pork chops or smoked sausage.
