Slavinken / Blindevinken

(Seasoned Ground Beef Sausages

wrapped in bacon or back bacon)

Cooking Time: Approx.: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
1 Package Frozen Slavinken or Blindevinken
2-4 Tbsp. Croma (when available) or other fat like Crisco.
Directions:
  • Defrost the meat ahead of time, or defrost it in the microwave.
  • Heat the Croma on medium heat in a frying pan until the fat just turns brown, then add the thawed meat to the heated Croma, fry for 1-2 minutes or until meat is browned on 1 ‘side’, turn the meat over and fry again for 1-2 minutes, repeat till all 4 ‘sides’ are fried.
  • Add 1 cup cold water, let the water/gravy turn to a boil, cover the pan and let simmer on low heat for at least 20 minutes.
  • Half way turn the meat over.
  • When at the end of the cooking time the water from the gravy has evaporated add some more water to get a good tasting gravy.
Serving Suggestions: Serve the slavinken or blindevinken and the gravy with boiled potatoes or an instant package of mashed patatoes and red beets or red cabbage or green beans.
It taste also very good with a witlof salad and Dutch hash browns [cooled off boiled potatoes, sliced and fried/ heated/ browned in margarine]
